NRA Range Safety Officer Certification

The National Rifle Association Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification.

To become a National Rifle Association Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

The RSO course content consists of RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency.

This one-day course covers all the various range environments (indoor/outdoor) and provides practical policies for range inspections and controls. As part of this course, participants will work with a wide variety of rifles, pistols and shotguns to assure they can open, inspect and clear these firearms. The class will also observe and evaluate the operation of a working range.

Cost for the course is $125 and includes all materials.

Upon successful completion student is required to register with the NRA.
